Top flight food & ambience!
Good food, medium service. I recieved a thirty dollar parking ticket within two minutes of entering the restaurant. When I followed up with the bar manager, I recieved a verbal apology. Dinner last night cost me $60.00(twice as much as I spent on the meal). Since there is nothing the establishment can do for me other than a trite apology, I will not be returning.
The food was good, but mac and cheese for $14. was a bit much. I ordered a "Fernwood Inn Coffee", and it was very weak. I rarely complain in restaurants, but I took 2 sips and decided I could not pay $6.25 for an extremely weak drink. When I politely told the waiter, he said "you are the first person who has ever complained about the coffees" I then ordered a hot chocolate and it was equally as weak. I tipped generously, but I won't be back.
Sounds like the person who got the parking ticket is from out of town or something, Victoria is the worst for parking tickets, everyone that lives here knows it, and you don't take chances because in Vic you will get a ticket! And secondly, why would the restaurant have anything to do with paying or even helping to pay the ticket as was implied? It has nothing to do with them! They are responsible for what happens inside their doors and on their property...not for people who make the mistake of parking illegally!!
The Fernwood Inn is the best thing to happen to the neighbourhood in a LONG time. Great food that is consistent, friendly staff that always make you feel welcome, good live music and artwork. Because it is a restaurant rather than a pub, families are welcome too. The place is humming whenever there is a show at the Belfry or a game on the TV- super atmosphere! Highly recommend it. As for parking, they have a free lot, which is nearly unheard of in Victoria.
I agree - how much sense does it make castigating the establishment for a parking situation over which they have no control? That's like giving a movie a poor review because the popcorn was bad.
I'll certainly go back, as the Fernwood is my favourite pub in Vic and a short walk (another cure to parking tickets) away. LOVE the polenta appetizer!
Good quality food. Several vegetarian options
Friendly staff, great ambience. And the best part is that children are allowed in. It's nice to be able to go out with friends who have kids and be able to enjoy the pub atmosphere.
VICHY-- you parked illegally, why would the restaurant pay for that??
They claim to be completely local but overheard a chef saying that their produce comes from California. The food is OK. The service is totally unprofessional. Atmosphere was tacky.
Best pub in Victoria. Period.
The Fernwood Inn is, without doubt, the friendliest venue in Victoria. Great Open Mic night. Kids welcomed. Wonderful community atmosphere.
